Team Rock crowned VR-game.HADO Global Invitation Champions at Games of the Future 2025

Team Rock are the VR-game.HADO Global Invitation champions at Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025 powered by ADNOC (GOTF 2025). Across a gruelling day of competition that tested both physical prowess and digital precision, Team Rock were named the winners for GOTF 2025. Idol Producer finished as runners-up, with MISTA completing the podium in third position.

The title was decided by combining ranking points from two distinct competitions – HADO PvP and HADO WORLD – where six elite clubs battled through group stages before the top four advanced to knockout stages.

VR-game.HADO Global Invitation was a new addition at the Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025 following approval by PI Lab, the research and development team at Phygital International – who are the rights holders of GOTF.

It was chosen as it brought the best of the virtual reality world and physical athleticism to centre stage as players – equipped with head-mounted displays and armband sensors – battled for the title armed with virtual energy balls and shields on a physical court across 80-second bursts of high-octane action.

Six powerhouse teams stepped on the stage:

• Idol Producer – reigning 2025 HADO WORLD 2x2 Global Open 2025 champions
• MISTA – fresh off their HADO WORLD CUP 2025 PvP title, known for consistently producing elite tournament performers
• Team Rock – reigning champions of the 2024 Korea Cup and second place finalists at the HADO WORLD CUP 2025
• Synergy – one of the most strategically advanced club squads in Europe, combining World Cup MVP talent with elite conditioning and meticulous preparation to outthink opponents
• ATROTOS – a club made up of veteran athletes multiple World and Euro Cup appearances
• Team IDK – the undefeated champions of every domestic competition in the United Kingdom.

The group delivered nail-biting moments from the opening match. Idol Producer edged past Synergy by a single point after an 80-second deadlock, while MISTA similarly overcame Team IDK by one point after the match went into an overtime.

Team Rock announced their intentions early with a 1-2 victory over ATROTOS, setting the tone for what would become their dominant run.

The knockout stages raised the stakes even higher. In a best-of-three semi-final clash, Team Rock defeated MISTA to book their place in the final. The second semi-final produced drama worthy of the occasion as Idol Producer faced Synergy. After Idol Producer took the opening game 5-2, Synergy responded with a 2-3 victory. The deciding game ended locked at 3-4, forcing sudden death, where Synergy snatched victory by a single point to advance into the finals.

In the third-place match, MISTA defeated reigning world champions Idol Producer in straight games, 4-0 and 3-2, securing bronze in PvP mode.

The PvP final showcased Team Rock at their best. They claimed the opening game 8-3 before sealing the championship 4-3 in the second round, completing a flawless knockout performance, with Synergy placing second.

Following the conclusion of PvP competition, attention shifted to HADO WORLD mode, where the battle for overall supremacy intensified. Team Rock and Idol Producer emerged from their respective semi-finals, with Team Rock overcoming Team IDK in a dramatic best-of-three that went the distance. After Team Rock won the opener 3-2, Team IDK fought back to claim the second game in overtime following a 4-5 all draw. Team Rock showed their championship resilience in the decider, scoring 4 points to advance. Meanwhile, Idol Producer defeated MISTA 2-0 in their semifinal, winning 6-2 and 5-2 to reach the final.

The HADO WORLD final proved to be an absolute thriller, with Idol Producer claiming victory over Team Rock in a contest that pushed both teams to their limits. The win secured crucial ranking points that would prove decisive in determining the overall champions. MISTA took third place after defeating Team IDK.

Ziliang “Crow” Xu, Idol Producer reflected on their performance: "For me, the key to winning was our training and our trust in each other. This is our first time at the Games of the Future, so it’s very important for us and very exciting at the same time. I believe the experience can help us grow as a team.”

With points from both competitions combined, Team Rock finished first with 18 points overall. Idol Producer took second place with 14 points, and MISTA claimed third with 12 points.

Reflecting on their win, Jinwoo “Jinu” Park, Team Rock said: “We are very excited and happy to become grand champions. Every match was very hard because all the teams are very strong and have very good skills, so each game was important. The Games of the Future experience has been very great for us, I believe it is the future of sport.”
