Fierce Roc crowned Battle of Robots champions at GOTF 2025!

21/12/2025

Following a dramatic final, Fierce Roc have been crowned Battle of Robots champions at the Games of the Future Abu Dhabi 2025 powered by ADNOC.

One of the most anticipated disciplines of GOTF 2025, the Battle of Robots brought together 16 elite teams from around the world to compete in fast-paced, head-to-head combat that rewarded aggression, control, and mechanical resilience.

Explosive opening rounds

The tournament wasted no time delivering headline moments. Daddy Bots set the tone early when their robot Daddy eliminated Magnetic Reboot’s SparkPlug in less than 30 seconds — the first knockout of the competition. Team Cobalt followed suit, flipping Team Chile Condor Machine within ten seconds in another decisive one-hit finish.

Fierce Roc quickly established their intent. Competing with the undefeated heavyweight Deep-Sea Shark, they dominated Outlaw’s Spitfire, pinning it into the corner and inflicting damage that quickly left it immobilised. Elsewhere, Switchback overcame Team Saint’s famously durable Zadkiel, which absorbed hit after hit before finally losing mobility.

As the bracket progressed, Team Eruption’s Ignition advanced with authority against Crazy Bunny Lab’s Boolbatron, as sparks flew during a dominant performance that limited Boolbatron’s ability to engage. Meanwhile Kinetic Energy RoboticsJasper progressed after Team Monsoon suffered a self-inflicted flip during a reverse manoeuvre, while DS Robotics’ Godspeed dismantled Team Rubbish’s Brutus in just 40 seconds. The opening round concluded with PY Roboticsz’s Golden Fury beating Toon’s TR4, despite Toon surviving multiple heavy impacts.

High-octane final battles

With teams competing for a share of a $400,000 prize pool, the closing stages of the Battle of Robots delivered some of the most dramatic and high-octane matchups of the competition.

The losers’ bracket delivered its own standout moments. Zadkiel (Team Saint) once again demonstrated remarkable durability, rallying under pressure to knock out Outlaw’s Spitfire. Toon’s TR4 then thrilled the crowd with an aggressive display, flipping SparkPlug (Magnetic Reboot) repeatedly before ejecting it from the arena in emphatic fashion.

The first semifinal between DS Robotics’ Godspeed and Team Cobalt’s Cobalt proved to be one of the defining moments of the tournament. Both robots delivered sustained aggression as parts flew across the arena, yet neither machine could secure a knockout. The match ran the full three minutes — one of the only bouts of the competition to do so — and was initially awarded to Godspeed by decision. Following an appeal and review, the result was overturned due to a lack of aggression in the final minute, with Team Cobalt advancing by a revised 17–16 decision.

The second semifinal brought together two fan favourites, as Fierce Roc’s undefeated Deep-Sea Shark took on Daddy Bots’ Daddy in a fiery showdown — quite literally as Daddy burst into flames in one of the most dramatic moments of the tournament. After the smoke settled following a brief technical pause, Deep-Sea Shark ultimately secured the knockout to advance to the final.

The playoff between DS Robotics’ Godspeed and Daddy Bots’ Daddy delivered another hard-fought encounter. Both robots sustained heavy damage in a thrilling bout, yet neither yielded easily. With no knockout achieved, the battle went to the judges, where Godspeed emerged victorious by a narrow 17–16 decision, securing third place.

‘Deep-Sea Shark’ crowned champion

The championship bout between Team Cobalt and Fierce Roc’s Deep-Sea Shark provided a thrilling climax to the Battle of Robots tournament, as both teams attacked aggressively from the outset, trading heavy impacts in a series of intense exchanges.

While Deep-Sea Shark imposed sustained pressure, Cobalt repeatedly recovered and re-engaged, keeping the contest finely balanced. However Deep-Sea Shark’s sustained pressure eventually proved decisive. A final, crushing blow secured the knockout and the championship.
